1.0 Preamble
Social Institutions is the systematic study of human society and social interaction. Through the Application of sociological theories, students learn how human behavior is shaped by groups, society and culture to which they belong.
1.1 Aim
The aim of this course is to produce students with a deep understanding of Sociological issues from a local to an international level by making them critical analysts of society. It is also the aim of this course to mold graduates with strong academic interpreting skills on sociological issues as they manifest in society.
1.2 Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to define related sociological terms, interpret issues characterizing sociological debates, applying relevant sociological Theories and discussing, as well as relating sociological issues to daily societal events and phenomena.

1. Inmates at Chikurubi Farm Prison have grassroots projects to sustain their livelihood rather than depend on aid. Discuss the above statement.
2. ‘The laws surrounding women seem to be empowering them however the laws can also be suppressing. Assess this notion.
