Livelihoods are a source of food, income, power and authority. These are however often eroded in disasters. Most poor people’s livelihoods are at high risk of being disturbed by external shocks to the extent that the communities cannot be prepared enough for disasters. Those communities at risk cannot support themselves in times of disasters and hence the need for availability of technically equipped experts to help them prepare and recover after disasters.
