This course outline is designed for the Master of Science in Child Sensitive Social Policies (CSSP). The course explores psycho-social support and counseling as it relates to children in their broader contexts, thereby imparting the requisite skills and knowledge on the prevailing policy and practice within Zimbabwe and globally. The expectation is that on completion of this course, students are well equipped to become better analysts, interpreters and evaluators of psycho social support and counselling policies and services available for children. How these policies and services relate to the social protection and welfare of children will also be a central focus of this course using a multicultural approach to look into the ways psycho social support and counseling specialists address children’s issues. The course seeks to develop in students a capacity to critically assess evidence from a range of social science disciplines and to appreciate how policies are continuously reconstructed and changed to serve the best interests of children.
