This course examines the principles of protection stemming from child abuse and neglect in the form of physical, emotional and psychological abuse. It gives students the ability to identify child protection issues/cases and equips them with knowledge and skills of handling them in an effective and safe manner. It also deals with child care principles, standards and ethics for caring.
Children represent the most vulnerable members of society and are entitled to protection, care, and dignity. Social development practitioners, community workers, educators, and public health professionals require a thorough grounding in child protection frameworks, identification of abuse, and ethical responding. This course prepares graduates to engage professionally and sensitively within multi-disciplinary child protection systems.
