This course is designed for B.Sc. Honours Degree in Community Development students. It offers the foundations of community development to students, guided by theoretical perspectives and philosophies underpinning development. It provides students with a deeper understanding of development discourse while at the same time paying particular attention to the concept of community development, including resolving development challenges confronting modern societies. The course emphasises on practical application of concepts and models. It equips students with knowledge and skills to enable them to work and manage programmes in a variety of institutions such as central and local government, parastatals, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, multi-lateral and bilateral institutions. Other than this, the course lays a good foundation from which other courses in community development can be built from.
