kcd 121 Introduction to Primary Health Care

The course examines how community development relates to Primary Health Care. The course will assist student to develop skills in Primary Health Care activities, such as health promotion and prevention and palliative and rehabilitative care. Issues that will be covered in the course include Primary Health Care origins, elements and principles, the level of coordination between Primary Health Care and other levels of the health systems, and the role of Primary Health Care in community development. This course will also explore health promotion models that are used to develop an intervention program in the community.
